Page 12: Working at the Paleo Lab

I have the coolest job EVER. I work with real live (errr, dead) dinosaur bones! I work at the Paleontology Lab attached to the BYU Earth Science Museum, chipping away at rock with drills and chisels to expose dinosaur bones that are millions of years old, never before seen by human eyes. I also give tours of the museum to little kiddies. I pick my own hours, work at my own pace...it's AWESOME!

Where I work!
THIS is the Earth Science Museum, a shabby little shack just west of the stadium.

Roar!

...and another...
ROAR!

and another!
ROOOOOOOOOAAAAR! *ahem*

PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE PALEONTOLOGISTS.
The kiddies can look through the window and see us working. Sometimes I feel like a zoo animal!

Not what you've seen in the zoo...
That is one big sloth! Dangerous!

It's like opening a really old Christmas present!
This is how the bones come to us: big chunks of rock in plaster "jackets."

It's a risky job, but somebody's gotta do it!
We open up the jackets with sharp jagged knives and big dangerous crowbars and see what's inside!

This is a part of a vertabrae I'm working on.
After a heck of a lot of work, most of the rock is chipped off, leaving beautiful dinosaur bone!

Ken.
This is Ken, my boss. He's very cool.

She likes Space Ghost, too!
Beth is one of my coworkers. She's a sophomore and likes running and stuff.

hard at work...
This is Mary. She's now on a mission for the LDS church in Finland!

Danae.
Danae's worked here the longest: three years!

Mel has the best last name: FILLERUP.
Mel is stuck working with us four gals. I don't think he minds so much.

Lauren with a hammer? Dangerous...
We'll round off this excellent tour of my workplace with a picture of yours truly.
